Just six months after undergoing surgery to reconstruct the anterior cruciate ligament in his left knee, longtime New Orleans Hornets forward David West on Thursday received full medical clearance to resume his NBA career. West opted out of the final year of his contract with the Hornets on June 27 and will be a free agent when the league and the players association agree to a new collective bargaining agreement.

POSTED: 7:38 am CDT October 20, 2011 UPDATED: 9:36 am CDT October 20, 2011 NEW ORLEANS — The New Orleans Hornets’ most popular player may be taking his skills on a world tour.ESPN The Magazine reports that Paul — and more than a dozen NBA stars — will likely participate in a two-week “world tour” that would replace the typical start of the league’s regular season.Former Hornet Tyson Chandler is on the list of likely participants, as are Dwayne Wade, Kobe Bryant, LeBron James, Carmelo Anthony and Derrick Rose.Sources told ESPN’s Ric Bucher that the deal is not yet done. But if it comes together, the players would travel to places like Great Britain, China and Australia.The NBA has locked out players as it negotiates a restructured contract with the union. So far, the two sides have been unable to come to terms, resulting in the cancellation of the first two weeks of games and threatening to wipe out the entire 2011-12 season
