Back in early July, when the free-agent floodgates got thrown open, the New York Daily News reported that New Orleans Hornets star Chris Paul felt that team owner George Shinn had "lied" to him about upgrading the team this offseason.

Amundson signing this week

Three teams are left in the running for free agent forward Lou Amundson and the final choice will be made this week , according to USA Today. The Golden State Warriors , New Orleans Hornets , and Indiana Pacers , which needs a big man after trading away Troy Murphy , are all trying to get Amundson to come aboard, the paper reports.

Forward Louis Amundson (notes) has already played for three teams in his four seasons in the NBA and it looks like he’s about to add another. The 6-9, 238-pound free agent out of UNLV has four teams trying to sign him , according to ESPN.

The word may be that Denver Nuggets is still considering that three-year, $65 million contract extension from the team, but ESPN is hearing from its league sources that "it is now a matter of when, not if , Anthony and the Nuggets will go their separate ways." One source told the site, "He’s going to make it real clear that he’s not coming back." Don’t go burning any bridges, Carmelo. Paul has the Orlando Magic and New York Knicks on his wish list of teams to go to, but AOL FanHouse reports that the Magic don’t want to trade for Paul if the Hornets couple him with the four years and $52 million left on Emeka Okakor’s contract.
