The New Orleans Hornets finalized a deal with the Oklahoma City Thunder this morning that sent the rights to Cole Aldrich and guard Morris Peterson in exchange for the rights to Craig Brackins and Quincy Pondexter.

The New Orleans Hornets have agreed to trade Cole Aldrich and veteran shooting guard Morris Peterson to Oklahoma City for the Thunders’ 21st and 26th picks in the first round. Peterson is heading into the final year of a four-year $23 million contract.

2010 NBA Mock Draft version 2.0

The Denver Nuggets are looking to get a Top 10 pick in the upcoming NBA Draft, according to ESPN. The site reports that Nuggets GM Mark Warkentein has been trying to figure out which teams would be interested in such a deal and is offering guard Ty Lawson (notes) for the draft pick. Lawson, who was drafted in the first round last year by the Minnesota Timberwolves and then traded to the Nuggets for a future first-round pick, averaged 8.3 points, 1.9 rebounds, and 3.1 assists per game last season.

Al-Farouq Aminu seems to be at once the most sure thing in the draft, while also serving the role as a slight unknown. Aminu’s reputation and numbers show him to be a defensive nightmare and rebounding terror.

Having played high school basketball less than 10 miles from the New Orleans Arena, Greg Monroe is the lone elite 2010 NBA Draft prospect with local ties.

According to NBA FanHouse, “DeMarcus Cousins may have been the most hyped big man in the nation, but Daniel Orton may just be the biggest.” A bruising 6-foot-10, 260 pounds, Orton has the size and power GMs covet in the draft.

Larry Sanders is in the same category as a few other big men in the draft, but the upside to Sanders’ game may be the biggest. Having only played organized basketball for a short time, Sanders has already proven himself to be a top-flight defender.
